Engineer’s Day celebrated in state

Agartala: Sept 15: Like every year the state observes Engineer’s Day to remember the birth anniversary of Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya today. He was one of the greatest nation builders who contributed to the field of engineering and education. Meanwhile, today marks the 160th birth anniversary of Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya who was commonly known as Sir. MV.

On Engineer's Day, the Chief Minister called upon the engineers to work with responsibility. PWD and DWSA are departments for people welfare. So every engineer needs to evaluate his own work while working. Only then will the efficiency of the engineers increase. This was stated by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb while addressing the 54th Engineers' Day on behalf of the State Engineers Association at Prachya Bharati School in Dhaleshwar on Wednesday.

He further said that don't just focus on big issues or tenders, Engineers need to take action to solve the small issues that are causing human problems and all the work that is taken from the department has to be completed by the engineers within the stipulated time. This stagnation is due to the mentality of not working for 40-45 years. So the engineers are being asked to complete the construction work in time.

Besides, the Chief Minister referred to the power department and said that modern transformers are being installed in the state after the BJP government came to power. 4,600 crore has been brought from the Center. So that the people of the state can be given proper electricity service. Later, Chief Minister unveiled the marble statue of Water Resource Office Complex M Bisweshwar at Kunjaban.

Since 1968 India has been celebrating Engineer’s Day. This special day is observed to acknowledge Bharat Ratna Visvesvaraya who was regarded as the ‘Father of Modern Mysore’. He played a vital role in constructing hydro power projects, dams and reservoirs in India. He also supervised the construction of various architectural sites as chief engineer  including the flood protection system of  Hyderabad and the Krishna Raja Sagar dam in Karnataka.
